The Filipinos Back Then: Naalala Ninyo Pa Ba?

TIME is changing so is PEOPLE...

Hope this will brighten your day as it did mine....please read on until the end.

Nakakapangiti!
<<< > pang KAUNLARAN... > > > > > >

Si Nanay ay nasa bahay pag-uwi namin galing sa paaralan;
Walang mga bakod at gate ang magkakapit-bahay, kung meron, gumamela lang;
10 sentimos o diyes lang ang baon: singko sa umaga, singko sa hapon;

Malaking bagay na ang pumunta sa ilog para mag-picnic, o kaya sa tumana;
Grabe na ang kaso pag napatawag ka sa principal's office o kaya malaking kahihiyan kapag bagsak ka sa exams;

Mayroon kaming mga laruan na gawa namin at hindi binili: trak-trakan (gawa sa rosebowl ang katawan at darigold na maliit ang mga gulong, "sketeng" (scooter) na bearing na maingay ang mga gulong at de-sinkong pako para sa preno;
patining na pinitpit na tansan lang na may 2 butas sa gitna para suotan ng sinulid (pwede pang makipag-lagutan);
sumpak, pilatok, boca-boca, borador, atbp.
May dagta ang dulo ng tinting na hawak mo para makahuli tutubi, nandadakma ka ng palakang tetot, pero ingat ka sa palakang saging dahil sa kulugo;
Butas na ang sakong ng Spartan mong tsinelas - suot mo pa rin;

Unahan tayong sumagot sa Multiplication Table na kabisado natin, kasi wala namang calculator. Pag-akyat natin sa mga puno; pagkakabit ng kulambo, lundagan sa kama ; Pagtikwas o pagtitimba sa poso; pingga ang pang-igib ng lalake at may dikin naman ang ulo ng babae; Inaasbaran ng mga suberbiyo; Nginig na tayo pag lumabas na ang yantok-mindoro o buntot-page. Nai-sako ka rin ba? O kaya naglagay ka ba ng karton sa pwet para hindi masakit ang tsinelas o sinturon? Pamimili ng bato sa bigas; tinda-tindahan na puro dahon naman; bahay-bahayan na puro kahon; naglako ka ba ng ice-candy o pandesal noong araw? Karera sa takbuhan hanggang maubos ang hininga; pagtawa hanggang sumakit ang tiyan; Meron pa bang himbabao, kulitis at pongapong? O kaya ang lukaok, susuwi at espada? Susmaryosep ang nadidinig mo pag nagpapaligo ng bata... Estigo santo kapag nagmamano. Mapagod sa kakalaro, minsan mapalo; matakot sa "berdugo" at sa "kapre";

Lipstick mo ay papel de hapon; Labaha ang gamit para sa white-side-wall na gupit;

Awit muna: Penpen de Serapen, de kutsilyo, de almasen. How how the carabao batuten...

Thank you for reading......

Happy...Sad...Glad...Emotions!

Affection

Happiness

Thinking

Hurting

bagong gising...hehehe

Emotion is a mental and physiological state associated with a wide variety of feelings, thoughts, and behavior.

The English word 'emotion' is derived from the French word émouvoir.

This is based on the Latin emovere, where e- (variant of ex-) means 'out' and movere means 'move'.

Did I Marry the Right Person?

A forwarded message from a friend and I want to share it all with you. Hope we can learn something from it. Please read it till the last paragraph...

"Dear All:

THE RIGHT PERSON?
During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question. She said, "How do I know if I married the right person?" I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said, "It depends. Is that your husband?" In all seriousness, she answered, "How do you know?" Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind. Here's the answer.

Every relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with your spouse. You anticipated his call, wanted his touch, and liked his idiocyncracies. Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience.
You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" in love... because it's happening TO YOU.
People in love sometimes say, "I was swept off my feet." Think about the imagery of that expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU.
Falling in love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria of love fades. It's the natural cycle of EVERY relationship. Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncracies, instead of being cute, drive you nuts.

The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you think about your marriage, you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage. At this point, you and/or your spouse might start asking, "Did I marry the right person?" And as you and your spouse reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you maybegin to desire that experience with someone else. This is when marriages break down. People blame their spouse for their unhappiness and look outside their marriage for fulfillment.

Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes. Infidelity is the most obvious. But sometimes people turn to work, church, a hobby, a friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances.
But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage. It lies within it.
I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could.
And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later. Because (listen carefully to this):

THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just happento you. You can't "find" LASTING love. You have to "make" it day in and day out.

That's why we have the expression "the labor of love." Because it takes time, effort, and energy. And most importantly, it takes WISDOM.

You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work. Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your marriage. Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships. Just as the right diet and exercise program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your relationship WILL make your marriage stronger. It's a direct cause and effect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable. You can "make" love to stay.

Love in marriage is indeed a "decision",... not just a feeling. "

P.S. I Love You

While I was browsing the mini library in our office, I saw this thin manual entitled "P.S. I love You" compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

It was a compilation of P.S's which is commonly found at the bottom of a letter. Here are some of it and maybe we can learn from this words of wisdom.

P.S.
What you are becoming
is more important than what
you are accomplishing.
I Love you,
Mom

P.S.
Dearest Daugher,
you don't have to prove yourself to me,
your father, or to anyone. If you have
done your best, that's all that matters. Are
you content and satisfied with your efforts?
That's the only question to ask.
I love you,
Mom

P.S.
Life is teaching you some painful lessons.
But it is from adversity that strength is born.
You may have lost the inning, but I know
you'll win the game.
I Love you,
Mom

P.S.
Awareness is a major key to success.
Keep your radar finely tuned.
You never know where a good idea will
come from
or how far it will take you.
I Love you,
Mom

P.S.
Carrying a grudge is like a run in a
stocking - it can only get worse.
Forgiveness is the answer.
I Love you,
Mom

P.S.
Good Manners sometimes means simply
putting up with other people's bad manners.
I Love you,
Mom

The Boss: A lesson in Life

The Boss
Anonymous
When the Lord made man, all the parts of
the body argued over who would be boss.
The Brain explained that since he controlled all
the parts of the body, he should be boss.
The Legs argued that they should be boss,
since they could take the body anywhere
it wanted to go.
The Stomach countered with the explanation
that since he digested all the food, he kept the body healthy,
therefore he should be boss.
The Eyes said that without vision man could not see
where he was going, therefore they should be boss.
Then the Rectum spoke up and applied for the job.
The other parts of the body all laughed so hard,
the Rectum closed up.
After a few days, the Brain got foggy,
the Legs became wobbly,
the Stomach became ill, and
the Eyes crossed and could not see.
Soon they all conceded that the Rectum should be boss.
You don't have to be a Brain to boss: just an Ass.

Flowers and Herbs Names and their Meaning

The Meaning of Flowers and Herbs Names

I love flowers and now starting to like and use some herbs. I recently read a book regarding flowers and herbs arrangements and included there are their meanings. So the next time we receive and give some flowers and herbs we will know what they mean and to the person were giving them.

Acacia- Secret Love

Almond Blossom- Sweetness, hope

Amaranthus - Immortality

Amaryllis- Pride, Splendid beauty

Anemone- Withered hopes, forsaken

Angelica- Inspiration

Apple Blossom- preference

Basil- Good Wishes

Bay Flower- Glory
